I am constantly impressed by Betty.
She's my best broody of all my chooks.
Apart from attacking Albert peacock when he went near her chicks she's gone and impressed me yet again
She's a really small bantam and went broody last week.
We have a full sized wooden egg to try and encourage our young Marans to lay in the 'right ' place.
Betty has been sitting on it at any opportunity so the other day I took it out of the box and left it on the side- and promptly forgot about it.
When my OH checked for eggs later he said she was still sat on the wooden egg.
What she'd somehow managed was to roll the egg with her beak about 2 feet and then over a 3" lip of a nesting box- all so she could get on with the job of trying to hatch it!!!!
(This egg is about 4 times the size of her head and much heavier than one of her eggs)
Aw bless her....she's a love isn't she??
