I've never kept them but I understand that if you buy an adult it is reccomended you keep it penned for about twelve weeks. I don't suppose you would have much problem with chicks though.
I dare say they may go visiting(but so might your neighbours!) but will come home to roost.

Yes I know they have to be penned for a while till they know where home is. Would probably try and raise some from chicks so hopefully they would hang around the homestead, but we can sometimes hear the neighbour's peafowl calling when the wind's in the right direction so just wondered how strong a draw that would be for any we had. My guess is if I end up with a cock and a couple of hens to keep him happy then he wouldn't feel the need to go a-wandering.
