  • we're back again

sorry for the lack of activity here, we had a telephone line and pole snap and short out across a 33,000 volt mains cable three weeks ago. Only just got the phone and net back on again after BT had to rebuild the exchange as strangley enough, a system designed to run on 50v DC doesnt appreciate 33,000 hitting it!

    So, did i miss much?

Welcome back Sounds like an epic fail, I'm guessing the exchange was fried! They must have been working their socks off to get it back on. Have they resited the pole?!

it was indeed an epic fail. and no, they havent resited the pole, they have had to trench the wire 2 foot under ground up the side of our mountain! it must have cost them an absolute fortune. 8 miles of cable and we are the only house on the mountain!!!

Good job it didn't short out under the piggles or you would have had bacon for breakfast.
Joking aside you were lucky to get off without damage, scary isn't it.
                      Glad all is now ok.

well we did have some damage. the broadband router blew up, lost a phone line and we are still having problems with it now, the washing machine shorted out and the kettle died.

Yes, the bloody kettle died! <----- see the importance of this!

Anyways, as for piggies, we did lose some in the high winds with Shirley jumping up and down everytime the wind howled, and we ended up with one being hand reared in the house.

He is three weeks old now and chases the sheep dog around the house! He drinks for Britain and is really lovelly. However, we did have a fright last week as he contracted pneumonia, the vet thinks its because he guzzled his food and he inhaled some milk.

Anyways, several injections - given by us i hasten to add - of strong antibiotics and he seems to be back on the mend. He managed to get up the stairs today - had to carry him down as otherwise he would have just jumped!!

The first picture is of "Hamish" at just a week old, getting his bottle from Jennie, the next one is at three weeks (Thursday this week) and he is rooting around the log burner looking for his newspaper to pee on. Yep at three weeks he is litter trained!!
