Chuffed to bits! 100% hatch of the eggs which were fertile! Hooray for my new all-singing all-dancing incubator! Had to extract one little guy from egg last night as the membrane was stuck to him but he's made it through the night and will be joining the others under the electric hen later on today if he keeps improving.
Another week for the Copper Blue Marans eggs under Phoebe the buff Orp bantam! Only 7 more sleeps!
Yippee, well done! What sort of incubator do you have?
Are they full size Copper Blues, or bantams? I tried hatching LF Copper Blues earlier in the year but had zero success. They are beautiful birds, hope you get some.
duck and 10 ducklings massacred by fox. (gamekeeper is after fox, bye bye foxy)
got 14? ducklings under heat in barn, khaki campbells, call ducks, muscovies and the remaining duckling that escaped the fox attack - 'Lucky'.
Eggs from other duck that fox took are in incubator - I will candle them tonight to see if they have survived.
Got a white silkie sat on goodness knows how many eggs- pekin, silkie eggs I think but she won't let me see.....

Sally it's an R-com 20 Pro. I bought it a few weeks ago. I felt that my other one was doing an ok job but was very basic and I wanted to go upmarket a bit. Had great fun just watching it turn the eggs - it plays a little tune each time - I really DO need to get out more!
The Marans are LF. I have a home for any cockerels from them and the Partridge Orps just hatched (they're LF too) so feeling very lucky just now!
Ooooh this hatching lark is soooo exciting - when it's someone else. Personally, I don't know why I bought the darn incubator. It's day 16, and I'm sooooooooooo excited I'm really annoying myself!

Would you Adam n Eve it - one of my rescue Silkies is boody AGAIN! She hatched 1 Hamburgh chick who is now 10 weeks old and has today decided she needs to have more! Trouble is I have some fertile Light Sussex eggs in my car boot as I'm chook sitting at the allotment and he has a very fertile cockerel running with his hens! NO-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-nooooooooooooooooooo!

Yes yes yes yes yes yes (or does that sound like When Harry met Sally .......... oops)
Have started collecting pure Indian Game and some Cream Legbar hopefully fertilised by our beautiful white Araucana cross cock who has bumblefoot and will have to go at some stage soon. Vet says its OK to breed from him and although haven't actually witnessed him in action he has been crowing lustily and doing his fancy dance around them so fingers crossed he's a shy boy and doing it when I'm not there to watch. Have two large broody Buff Orps and two broody bantams so plenty of "mums" to choose from. Will collect for a week then set what I've got, hopefully at least 6 of each.
Absolutely right I DO want to! Problem is logistical more than lack of desire! Need to move all hens into different coops/runs so I have broody coops in same area as broodies and not in hybrids run as they are at the moment. Also too many chicks of different ages and single girls, boys to rehome etc etc! Means a lot of carp shovelling and ***** and new wood chip - just too hot at the monent to do it! Also expecting another bantam Orp to go broody.
