  • TS, if they didn't hatch and you want fertile bantam eggs in the Spring let me know.

And yes T.S do tell, did you get any banties?
      Hi Buff,
I'd lurve to see some pics of these when they hatch. I've just hatched some 'lemon' cuckoo wyandottes, Signs of cuckoo-ing are there none. Wonder if the patterns will come through later on??

      • Hiya Jm

This is a picture of my last hatch. The big brown chick at the back is a Cuckoo Orpington and the little yellowish one at the front is a Buff Laced Wyandotte Bantam

Hope this helps, you will find that there true colour dont show until their 'big chicken' feather come through!!

        • Hmmm, mine are over a week old now, so have their 'proper' wing feathers, but no barring showing on the 'lemon cuckoo' . The gold and blue laced ones do have barring already though. Hmm, a bit of a poser this.....

          • I dont know if this helps but here goes anyway!

The first picture here is my Buff laced Wayandottes at about 10 days ish! you can just start to see the lacing on the wing feathers.

The 2nd picture is of the others all the same age, you can see the gold laced orpington, clearly sowing gold laced wings, the one that we call the penguin to the left of the picture is a Jubilee and even now at 4 weeks just looks black with the odd fleck of white!

I the back of the picture it my cuckoo, in this picture she still just looks brown! no barring.

The 2rd picture in our cuckoo a few days ago, now with barring

I suppose what I am trying to get at is, the cuckoo seems to have taken a long time to get her distinctive barring, so maybe dont panic just yet!!

            • Oh yes, I can just see the barring now. Funny how the lacing comes through from hatching, and the cuckoo-ing doesn't........What's that great big yellow bird? Its enormous!

                  • He was good actually, he was going to send us a whole new batch but as we had to wait for a couple of weeks to free up the inccy he emailed us and said that his girls were out of lay and refunded us!

I was quite impressed really, not bay for beybay!

                    • Better luck than me too, I bought ten eggs from a local seller which had such thin shells I could practically see through them. Only 50% hatched so I wasn't pleased. He didn't reply to my email either!

One huge, very dark and noisy Amrock chick under patient broody Penny Pekin. Not sure the other egg will hatch as it hasn't even pipped yet. Boo. This chick is HUGE!! One big girlie.

                              • our buff orpington has decided to go broody again- she is in the barn and there she will have to stay a long time if she hatches any. pekin has recently hatched a mixed batch- salmon faverolle, orpington, pekin, silkies and silver laced wyandotte
