  • thinking of changing brand of feed, any recommendations??

    Hi All,

Am looking to find an online delivery company to deliver me layers mash but I have marriages at the moment and have found that the delivery is almost as much as the product!!

If I changed brands do you think it would harm the hens? If I changed brands can anyone recommend a good layers mash?

    thanks in advance

I use Fancy Feed Company pellets - my girls love them. I was using Marriages with Flubenvet a few times a year until my supplier stopped stocking it due to changes in the sale of wormers regulations Both Wm. Marriage and Fancy Feed Company (Baileys Horse Feeds) are local companies, which is why I use them.

Whereabouts are you Angela? It would really help with advice if you add your location to your profile. If you are in the middle of nowhere I can understand that you may have problems with obtaining chook food.

I used to think that it didn't matter which pellets you used. However some real cheapy I bought had mites (yuk), and the girls really loved Fancy Food pellets (and they are smaller so good for bantams.) I would think that most pellets are made up to a standardish type of mix, so really its the quality of your supplier that counts, so you know that the produce is fresh, dry and cool.
I don't really know if its worth paying over the odds; there's always the organic and non-GM issues too.......
