          Update 7 weeks on

I thought you might like to see my little barn hens again! I've had them 7 weeks now and no one is bald anymore though they still look a bit moth eaten. The picture of just a back is the girl who was completely bare on her back. They've all got nice frilly knickers now and lay pretty much every day. One has a problem with her crop which seems distended/pendulous but otherwise seem really well.

Gosh what a difference. Something I couldnt do is keep hens, would love to find some eggs locally on a regular basis. A few people around here sell them in the market but I dont know how the hens are kept.

Sue thats terrible, would you mind if I copied one of your pictures to put on my facebook page so I can let a few more people see and hopefully choose not to buy barn eggs.

Sue thank you, this is what I put on face ache!

Hi this is a picture of a " BARN HEN" one of ten my friend has rescued, they were starved for the last two days of their lives as they would go off for dog food PLEASE PLEASE do NOT by BATTERY or BARN chicken eggs.
I am happy to give away my free range eggs to anyone who can come and pick them up to stop this awful torture.

They look so much better Sue - particularly the last photo. You have made my mind up this year - I'm going for ex-batts next.

                        An update

For those of you who remember the photos at the beginning of this thread, here are some taken today 8 months on and following a moult.
Second from the left is the girl whose back was completely bald and half her comb was missing.

They look great now Sue. And enjoying exploring!

I posted some 'before and after' shots on my thread 'getting excited now' - did you see them? They hadn't moulted on those pictures and one still looked a little shabby. They all look really good now and enjoying life.

When do you get your next batch?
