    Have been roaming this site for a while posted a few on the veggie posts read loads on the chickens, our chicken house is now built made out of old fence panels which you wouldnt know and internally has this special stuff lining the walls, floor and ceiling ! a lovely friend has been and got us 4 hens at point of lay (gotta get the run done before we take delivery) so we are very nearly there im just excited and wanted to tell anyone who would listen

    Congratulations! Lucky you! I still haven't quite gotten OH to agree when we can get some hens though he fancies the fresh eggs.

            Good luck Balliol: there's nothing like collecting (and eating) your own eggs. Our chickens are now getting a bit cheeky and laying underneath their house, so it's worth keeping an eye out for where they favour laying. Our best Christmas gift on Christmas day was 2 eggs after weeks of moulting/non laying.

              fantastic news balliol. if you look back a bit you'll see a thread I started some time ago when I got my very first egg, went straight to the fryingpan. My litle polish has started laying too now so we have a perfectly formed tiny egg every morning they make fab poached eggs, because they are so fresh the whites stay together perfectly with no fuss. you'll never want to go back to shop bought again
