i read on here somewhere the other week that ***** fluid was good for getting rid of mites,i had been getting a few and had dusted the birds and coop, but still there was always a few to be found on the 2ft sq plant tray i put under the paper,so i can just roll the paper onto it and lift the lot straight to the compost bin,so i had a hand sprayer and filled it 1/3rd ***** to 2/3rds water and on a dry day gave the inside of the coop a good squirt, since then, now a week later,i have not been able to find any at all ,and i have been really looking for them,i dont know how long it will last, but i am pleasantly surprised, especially the price difference,i still have some mite/lice powder but will see how long the present conditions last, has anyone else tried this solution to the red mites?

I use it sometimes to clean coop but I also use many other products so I'm never sure which is the most successful!

Yes I believe the sale of ***** is limited now by law because of health warnings, I believe you're only supposed to buy it for non-animal use, is that right? I know it's effective on mite but when my OH used it to kill moss on his outdoor model railway line it maked the whole garden stink like an oldfashioned public lavatory for ages, so apart from fears about the girls having to inhale it all night I don't use it in the henhouse.
Glad you got your redmite sorted, though, before you had this to worry about instead! I expect you looked every day underneath the plant tray, as well as removing all the sheets of paper, in case any were lurking?

I use it and I think so long as you ventilate well afterwards you would be OK. I use it on my greenhouse and flower pots/trays too.
          Brilliant stuff!

i used the ***** first thing and left the lid open all day, they were off playing at being demolition contractors,i let them back in at dusk and a lot of the aroma you get with it had eased off a lot, wouldnt use it in cold or damp weather,as coop would be damp on their return...
