Hens in Kent

Hi
Does anyone know/recommend chicken breeders in Kent, Tunbridge Wells area? It would need to be fairly close as I don't have a car.
Just about scraped all the money together to get everything, the allotment committee has given me a half plot to keep them on - so exciting!

Or
Should I be giving a home to ex-bats, never kept hens before so advice on this is welcome - have been reading up so know what to feed etc.

That's very kind thankyou, I've got the ground and just sorted out the labour, now I can get on the phone to arrange delivery of henhouse and then I can get the hens! I'll ring them next week, looks like the first one you listed has the biggest choice.
Fingers crossed I'll have them in their new home by 18th April

If you are short of money... ex bats....as you can get them for .50p each. They will only lay for another two years at most. But they will get you off.

Proper chicks will set you back up to £25 a go.

Not to put a downer on it if you muck it up and the birds die I you perfer to loose a 50p bird that a £20 bird.

Also Until I had all the ground work and housing sorted I wouldn't start to look for the birds. You hen house will need to be on a concreat base, The houes will need to be wired outside to stop rats and foxes.

The run will need to be wired in to the ground to stop rats and foxes.
