  • Bark

I'm planning on putting some bark down around my greenhouse to suppress weeds, make it look a bit tidier (well, until the chickens go rooting in it) etc.

I've read that spores in bark can cause respiratory problems with chickens.. is this when used in the run, or is it the same outside in the open air too? The chickens are in the same garden as is the greenhouse.

    TIA.

You beat me to it, Jardiniere!

Bark will only suppress weeds for a limited period. Other plants' seeds will germinate in it, and various other moulds will also grow. Plus, the Chooks will make a blimmin mess with it - trust me!
