Breed advice

Hi,

I've taken a look at the breeds my local breeder has, and was wondering if anybody has any advice on whether Maran Cuirvee is a good breed for a beginner?

not sure what this breed is. There are marans of various colours but the colour/ type comes as a pre-fix ie cuckoo maran, french maran

I googled this and there is a breeder based in Surrery which I'm guessing is not too far from you jonny? They look like a Maran cross, described as docile and hardy - sounds like a good beginners bird to me. They aren't a well known hybrid so there may not be anyone on the 'Vine with direct experience of them, but they're a bonny looking bird and if you like them, I'd say go for it!

Ahh, I've just found out a Maran Cuirvee is a Maran x Rhode Island Red, probably improves the laying ability. Don't know if this helps but just for info!
