    Hello folks,
I've been watching my young wyandottes banties and trying to work out who's a girl and who's a boy but can't! Just wondered if anyone has this breed and can advise? They are 11 weeks and 5 weeks old...the neck feathers on the silver pencilled chicks are very different colours (some rounded and black on some birds, pointed and silvery on others). The gold partridge all look the same as each other, also the blue and gold laced...

I'll try and get some pics but they're as mad as a box of frogs and won't sit still for long enough!

When I had mine last year it was pretty obvious for most - the boys had red combs by 6 weeks - well little red blobs anyway! There was however one notable exception and he is still with me as he masqueraded as a girl till he was 9 months old! Sticky up tails for the girls too and pointy neck feathers for the boys.

Sorry to have been such a slacker to all you kind enough to reply..well the two gold wyandottes are both boys. One has face furniture and one not, but I've seen them both crowing...surprisingly of the silver pencilled, the rounded dark feathered chicks (on their necks/shoulders) are boys and the pointy silver feathered chicks are girls. Work that one out. The gold partridge all look the same so of course they'll ALL be girls
A happy ending to a sad tale as one ran away last week (I thought a cat had taken her), but was returned yesterday by a hen keeping neighbour. Isn't that nice?
