  • Homeless Chickens!

Help! After many years of being on the housing list and struggling with high rents here in Bath, I have been offered a home (at very short notice) for me and the children. The only drawback is a small garden which would mean my 5 free ranging hens would be unable to come with us

They are all different hybrids and not even a year old. Excellent layers and fit and healthy (Ruby has a limp after her injury but muddles along fine).

I'm hoping someone fairly local can help to rehome them, we'll be gutted to see them go as will our egg buyers who buy 18 a week off us. They are used to freedom and lovely gentle characters. We are hoping to be mostly in the new property by Sunday night but unless the chooks have somewhere to go we will be flummoxed.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, gonna ask a house that keeps chickens down the road but don't hold out much hope there.

Hi VixFin - I'm in Peasedown and can take two - I've only got two at the moment and was thinking of getting another couple - sorry to hear you can't keep your girls, but good news on the home front - it'll be nice to be settled.

          Vix,

We're in WsM, so we can take any spares too. We can be there in less than an hour if needs be!

Thanks all. Will find out tomorrow if the pesky headmistress has let us down about rehoming so will let you know ASAP.

How's the rehoming going? My OH now tells me he would have been happy to drive to Bath. I have been trying to get some more hens to go with my 5 for some time but can't find any around here.
