    B**GER! and double B**GER!

I've just been outside to check the girls to discover that my modern game girls have scalped my best broody (silkie x sussex banty). What shall I do? They've created a wound 1.5cm by 0.75cm on the back of her head down to her skull. She's been back with them a week after I separated her from her chicks - I could see they were bothering her but thought they would sort it out eventually (she's double their size).
I feel awful, tho' poor Biek doesn't seem bothered at all. She's back with her chicks and giving the boys hell if they take liberties.
Should I see if it will heal on its own? Take her to the vets and see if he can superglue it back together? ( I'm serious, they do this for kids all the time).
I feel very bad and she looks like the victim of some horrible accident.

Can you push the wound together? You would need an anti-biotic spray or powder though. Any way you do it it will need to be kept clean so probably Sudocrem would be best, it would heal the wound and stop the others pecking at it.

Its dried Polly, its been really hot here today. If I could irrigate it with something I could push it back together but it would have to be glued or stitched I think. Bugger! I feel such a twit. I will get some Sudocrem tho'.

Is Sudocrem anti-biotic, or do you mean something like wound powder that you use for horses and can get from feed stores?

I'd use the purple spray. Thats antiseptic and will stop the others pecking it. See how it goes overnight and take her to vet for treatment if you think its not healing properly.

Thanks Sue. I'll zip down to WCF and see what I can find.
            Fingers crossed.
