The muscovies are about 14 weeks old now. They have started attacking each others wings and chewing them, drawing blood. I have tried washing in hibiscrub, spraying with antipeck. They only chew at night when in shed- they can't catch each other in the garden. What can I do - there is not one main culprit they are all up to it. I read somewhere on the internet that muscovies need extra protein as they are particularly carniverous- it suggested cat food!

Protein boost in whatever form you prefer. Think it's cos they put on so much weight and size so fast. If I remember right the young birds need something like 18/20% protein. I used to use a specialist duck starter crumb...but it had to be ordered in at my local feed store.
I'm envious Petal...I adore muscovies..they are such characters. My last drake, Huff'n'stuff, used to try to stand on my knee and pinch my lunchtime pilchard sarnis.Anyone who says nothing is impossible has never tried slamming a revolving door

thanks its hilly, if you want a boy and girl muscovy i can drop a couple off as a present next time we are visiting my parents near keswick(would ya know it I am a fellow cumbrian!) my dad told me last night he used to add fish meal to our muscovies food to prevent this problem. He also said we need to watch them near our guinea pigs..........
