  • Honesty box has to go...........

    What a shame!

The allotment officer apparently wasn't impressed with my honesty box on site as you're not supposed to sell surplus produce.

I've had it there for about three years now, very rarely use it now though as I've built up a regular clientelle so eggs are normally snapped up before being put in the box.

I'm a bit miffed as there are loads of far more rewarding gripes he could have had, like giving all the uncultivated plot holders there marching orders.

Have removed it now anyway and it should give me a wee bit more growing space in my greenhouse window where it was finally situated.

Got away lightly really as luckily he couldn't tell a cockerel from a hen!

Here's a piccy for old time sake!

PS In keeping with allotment tradition it was made from a pallet!

Ohhhh yes. Luckily allotment oficer didn't spot Sid and for once Sid kept his gob shut!

No idea how he missed him though unless he was in the coop having a bit of privacy with his harim!

I hope this means the officer's visit is over for the next 3 years - your cockerels are safe! (what a dipstick!)

couldn't you have argued the point that you were not selling prduce from the land but the chooks? Who are only housed on the land?

I love you - that's the sort of smartass thing I'd say. A technicality my dear lottie officer....<3

You can sell eggs at your garden gate so long as you have under fifty hens.

You are also allowed to sell surplus produce the emphasis being on the word surplus! So long as you aren't selling everything grown on your lottie it is a grey area.
