    Well got 3 bog standard brown hens reserved to collect next week, they will live in the wyandotte bantam pen as theres loads of room in there and no I am not worried about bullying as the cockerel does not allow it and his little hens are vicious s.ds anyway.

      only getting 1-2 eggs a day from my four but the silkie's broody again and one of the black orps looked like its exploded when I went down this morning,I never knew that one chook could lose that many feathers in one day!
      don't be afraid to innovate and try new things

        My girls run looks like they've been having a pillow fight! 3 white Silkies moulting produces a MASSIVE covering of fluff!

          I don't know huge amounts about chickens but have been keeping them now for nine years. I was advised to worm them when laying slows down, with a vile smeeling concoction made from scraps boiled in water, vinegar, salt and any strong spirit such as brandy or whiskey! It seems to help. The other advice I have stuck to is to feed layers wheat, not a manufactured mixture. I definitely get more eggs when I do.
