Well got 3 bog standard brown hens reserved to collect next week, they will live in the wyandotte bantam pen as theres loads of room in there and no I am not worried about bullying as the cockerel does not allow it and his little hens are vicious s.ds anyway.

only getting 1-2 eggs a day from my four but the silkie's broody again and one of the black orps looked like its exploded when I went down this morning,I never knew that one chook could lose that many feathers in one day!don't be afraid to innovate and try new things

I don't know huge amounts about chickens but have been keeping them now for nine years. I was advised to worm them when laying slows down, with a vile smeeling concoction made from scraps boiled in water, vinegar, salt and any strong spirit such as brandy or whiskey! It seems to help. The other advice I have stuck to is to feed layers wheat, not a manufactured mixture. I definitely get more eggs when I do.
