My beautiful Kellogg (welsummer cockerel) died in my arms last night
I'd gone down to the run after work last night as usual. Most of the hens were in their houses because of the awful weather, so I went round and checked on them all.
Kellogg was lying on the floor of the house, all floppy and unresponsive. I picked him up, and it was almost like his neck was broken - he was just all floppy and limp, though still breathing and with his eyes open.
I took him outside so I could have a proper look at him; but he stopped breathing
I have no idea what was wrong with him. On inspection, he had no lice or mites, and the coops were creosoted regularly, and sprayed for red mite weekly. He felt thin, but I'd seen him eating the day before and that morning. He was only 18months old.
The only thing I can think of is that he might have had some sort of reaction to the Tylan everyone had last week?
