It was nice of them to let you know Snadge.
Round here it's most unusual for strangers to look out for each other. I bibbed a car in town last week and pointed down at the nice cardy the passenger had trapped in her door, trailing along the ground in all the dirt.
They caught me up at the lights and glared hard at me, mouthing some obscenities I think ! I again pointed at the cardy, but they didn't catch on. No doubt when they eventually stopped they realised what I was trying to tell them, but at the time I think they assumed I was criticising their driving. All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
