  • Buff Orpington cock

    Hello there,
this is a very long shot, but does anyone have a good quality one one of these they are looking to get rid of? As near as Carlisle as possible (I said it was a long shot!), to lord it over a flock of BO ladies at a conservation farm park ..... If anyone can give me any possible contacts I'd be grateful.
    bestest wishes,
    Claire

I would look in your local newspaper/free ads and see what's on offer there, or place an ad for one. Our Ad Trader is stuffed with "cock free to good home" ads, including several for Buff Orps!

Good idea. I'll suggest that. Have tried Preloved but found nothing yet....

Either that or Omlet might be worth a shot

Orpington Chickens for sale | Orpington | Chickens | Breed Information | Omlet UK

There is someone giving one away on there, maybe not near you tho, but there are 42 ads on there, mostly hens but my thinking is, where there are hens there must be cocks! Maybe worth an email

        Good luck. x

I'll nip in to WCF in Penrith and stick in a 'wanted' ad. I'm sure there is someone round here who breeds them. I'll get in touch if I have any joy.

There is one on the Down the Lane rehoming page. her husband brought him home with the 3 hens and she was not impressed. Not sure of the breeding though.x

May I recommend Ghyllhead poultry - near maryport - ad is in back of practical poultry magazine- actually there are a fair few breeders in cumbria- get an issue and give them a bell.- no point in just buying any random cock.

Thanks all - we have our beautiful BO cockerel now. He's resting near Kendal after coming up from the Midlands (I believe) and should be heading north on Tuesday!
And thanks IH for the note in WCF - if you're in again could you take it down, or I can on Tues if I have time....

he's very chilled - he's in a broody coop and run waiting to be collected. Almost fills the bloomin thing!
