Hi all, I am looking to get some more hens, preferabley good layers. I have four Banti's at the minute but they are immature and would like a couple of mature hens for laying. What would be the best ones to go for?

Warrens are the usual battery chicken, they're bred to knock 300+ eggs a year out - mostly every day. That said, my hybrids hardly miss a day, so I'd have a look what your breeders around you offer in terms of hybrids.
Hybrids are certainly the ones to go for to ensure regular egg production. I also find they are really friendly little things and will come to be petted. A real bonus, that!
hi,
i think hybrids are the best to go for for regular egg production. why not get some ones that need rehoming. i dont know where you are in the world but i got an older chicken from a lady who runs a boarding kennels for hens and rescue/rehoming service. you could try there. google boarding hens. they are based at south mimms.
