  • Richmond hens saves the day!(yet again, I suspect..)

Thanks RH for your reply to my private message regarding our cockerel George. I am always one for home remedies before resorting to the vet- or at least arming myself with enough information for when we get to the vet to help her with her diagnosis.!
The antibiotic dog ear drops (pinched from my neighbour) are doing the trick, the nasty cheesy, smelly discharge in his ears is going and George the buff orpington is getting back to his extremely unpleasant self in no time at all.

Glad he's getting better. If George is usually unpleasant, then he must be twice as bad with earache.

I have umpteen chookbooks, but rarely find them much use in a crisis. The best place for advice/suggestions is definitely the Vine. Well done RH!

Petal AP and G4 are responsible for my screen getting a tea bath
In all seriousness though the advice on here is what has got me through the first couple of years of chookery without major disasters.
And got me to the vet fast armed with knowledge on the one occasion it was really needed.
As the town vets I had to consult when I first had chooks would have had more idea of how to drive a HGV than they did of what was up with a chicken the vine experts were very good news.
                ***Quick round of applause***
