Hello everyone, as you probably know, I have 3 chickens all supposed to be around the 21-22 week mark now. After not having any eggs for 3 weeks following their move to me, one starting laying again 2 days ago. I had one little egg one morning, another just slightly bigger the next morning and this morning when I went out I had a weird egg! Its soft...harder than just a membrane but not as hard as an egg, really quite squashy. They do have grit and oyster shell available all the time. do you thing this is the same girlie as the last two mornings and something has gone wrong or would this be one of the others first eggs and thats why its as it is? Once again, your advice is really welcomed - I know I could probably google it but Id much rather talk to you!

My next door neighbour has got 3 Light Sussex POL girls, one of which is laying and she did a soft egg about 3 days ago. She has just laid a perfectly normal egg again today.
Its a blip in the system, the egg just shoots through too fast and misses a stage of the production line! Her hormones just need to settle into a regular pattern.

My Light Sussex took ages before she laid- and has been doing so now for about 6 weeks. We seem to be getting 5 eggs a week from her- and one of those tends to be a double yolker!
Hormones me thinks! ( must say though that I'm happier with that than a shell-less egg!)"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
