Hi
I have a young cockerel - 18-20 weeks, and moulting. I have 7 hens - 2 of his sisters, 3 adult birds and 2 recent hens about 16-17 weeks. The cockerel and his 2 sisters have always been a little clique of their own, but latterly his affections have been veering towards one sister, although all 3 are still friendly. He started showing off a bit to her, as teenage boys tend to do, running up to her and stretching his neck up. She does the same thing back to him, but ends up giving in in the end. However, today things hotted up a bit and his ruffle on his neck all stood up, and I'd swear the pair of them were jumping up and clawing at each other. It all came to nothing - she finally gave in again and lowered her head, which he pecked at (not too hard, she didn't seem to mind). But I'm not sure if this is normal flirty behaviour, or if it's looking like something more serious?
Thx
