We use either Marriages or Smallholder, depending on the price. There are two outlets we buy from, the prices are competitive and whoever is cheaper at the time gets the order. We used Farmgate for a while but it has become very difficult to get hold of now in this area and tbh the quality went badly downhill about a year or so ago and I haven't used it since.

We get the Allen and Page Organic Feed Company layers pellets. We used to get them from our local SCATS country store but they only had the 5kg bags in stock. We found a more local place (a tack shop and feed store) that sold the 20kg bags for about £14

Hi Chris, When I had chooks I used to go to http://www.threecountiesagriculture.co.uk/index.html in Rudry
The owner was always very helpful and prepared to adjust his prices down! I'm sure he had organic layers pellets as well as the ordinary ones. I also used to buy bales of hay and straw from him.

Used to use Farmgate, and still would if the Smallholder stuff wasn't a quid cheaper per 20kg bag!
Farmgate is,I think £6.80 20Kg and Smallholder is £5.80 20Kg at Knox's!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Ive just changed onto Fancy feed layers from the smallholder layers pellets because the smallholders is tricky to get hold of round here.
It's GM free and I prefer it to Farmgate which was what I used to feed. Changed as I thought the quality of the farmgate wasn't great.

I'm always amazed at the price difference when everyone starts comparing pellets. Usually get mariages and payng just under £9 for 20k. I have noticed the chooks take a while to eat dfifferent pellet if I happen to buy aa alternative. Anyone elses fussy?Gardening forever- housework whenever
