  • 3.4kg!

    Just 'done' our fatteners- and the heaviest boy was 3.4kg!!!( dressed weight)

    I've never had goose..........thinking about getting one for the festive day but peeps have told me they're a bit of a mare to cook cos of all the fat ...

                  Goose is not difficult to cook (but a b!"$$^$&^ to pluck!)
                  The important detail is to have a rack in (or over) the roasting tin so that the fat that cooks out is UNDER the bird. You don't want it sitting in the fat, but you will get delicious roast spuds if you put those in the tray.

                      Flippin eck! Thats fab! How old and what are they Nicos? I do a Maran/Sussex cross and they average around 2.2kg.

                          24/28 weeks old! ( their sister hasn't started showing signs of laying)
                          breed? Hmm- well they were off the market as 6 week old chicks and they said they were 'cuckoo' - which really relates to their colour to be honest

                          I'll try and find out their breed next time we see the supplier

                          (They were almost twice the height of my Marans girls and light sussex gal)

                            Bin's if you know any "wildfowlers" see if you can get hold of a "pinky",they cannot legally sell them,but swapsies are normally acceptable there is almost zero fat on them & great flavour
