Alternatively, any old shed, with a pop-hole cut in the door, a perch rigged however it will stay up, and a nice strong cardboard box, on its side with the opening a chook's width from the back wall for a nestbox. They ain't fussy, and a cardboard nestbox can be burned if you get the dreaded redmite!
Whatever you use made of wood, treat generously with creosote substitute (and allow to dry thoroughly) before putting any chooks in.
