  • Do I have what I need?

Hope to be getting my girls in a few weeks, have been buying in what I think I will need but wondering if I have missed anything out?

    Coop
    Run
    Straw
    Sawdust
    Layers Pellets
    Mixed Corn
    Grit
    Oystershell
    Feeder
    Drinker
    Feed Container
    ACV
    Poultry Drink
    Diatom
    Purple Spray
    Wound Powder
    Poultry Shield
    Coxoid
    Germaloid cream
    Vanodine

I'm waiting on the vet practice getting back to me about Flubenvet 2.5% and Frontline puppy strength.

This weekend I'm sourcing some outdoor perches/logs and a large hook with chain to attach some treats.

Is there anything else i should be getting before I collect my girls?

    Egg boxes!!!!!

....oh and a garden chair so you can sit and watch them

Is it all a fox-proof as you can make it?

(Do you mean wood shavings rather than sawdust???)

Yeah sorry wood shavings with dust extracted (guy in local agricultural supply place said it was suitable).

The run is fox proof and has coroline roofing.

Have saved a fe egg trays but think I better get a couple of boxes, lol.

      Thanks

Broccoli or apple in hangers. They like a good peck!

Maybe some vaseline and plastic gloves if you think you may attempt to check if one of your gals is eggbound????

VVG - I thought that i could use the hook and chain to attach some treats from roof as I've seen this done with cabbages and stems of brussel sprouts. Are the pecker blocks any good?

Nicos - I have vaseline & gloves in house so will add them to my chicken kit.

            thanks

I pinched SueChooks's idea and use an old hanging basket at waist height for loose cabbage leaves and carrot peeling etc out the kitchen - makes them work for it!!

Check out Flubenvet from one of the online pet medicine websites - I got the 2.5% a while ago cheaper online than at the vets. Worth comparing.

Good luck and photos please once you have the girls

I tie all of my greens in a bunch then tie it to a wooden support in the run. Seems abit basic compared to you guys but seems to work! You seem very prepared Welcome to the addictive world of chicken keeping. I have had mine for about a month now and I am obsessed!!!!
