  • Egg Basket

I've been saying, for about two years now, that I'm going to make myself an egg collecting basket.....finally got around to it last Saturday.

What do you think? There are two photos because the lining is reversible.

OWG, I have some more baskets the same as that one, and some other small ones so if you would like one let me know. I've also got lots of chook fabrics (my names is Jules and I am a Fabricoholic)

Bit deep init? What about the poor eggs you pick up first. I would have thought a trug design would have been better! Cheers, Tony.

I have tried that, but the girls are getting sneaky with their eggs and now lay them 5ft up on a pile of straw bales (it's complicated) and I can't climb down with hands- and pocketsful of eggs being such a shorty. And I really did enjoy making something for myself for once.

At most, I'll only have 13 eggs per day to collect. A shallower design would be better for larger amounts of eggs. I did think about putting some wadding under the lining to pad the bottom.

Awww that's lovely. I have a sweet little oval-shaped wicker basket, which I have a handful of shavings in. I bought it especially, and it does the job beautifully, but the blinkin' shavings get everywhere, especially if it's windy. Mine holds about 8 eggs comfortably, but I could get a few more in, especially if I lined it like that.

I think the sewing machine may soon be coming out!

The only problem I had was with the bias binding. My sewing machine might be all singing, all dancing, but by 'eck, it hates bias binding. Think I might have to get my mini sewing machine out (got it for Christmas two years ago, never used it yet) and see if that does any better.
