The inlaws turned up with 4 "chickens" today. Turned out that one was a cockeral Shame as he is lovely! So any idea what breed? They claimed they are light sussex hybrids. I am not convinced, I think possibly white leghorn hybrids. The girls are HUGE! My other 4 are large fowl and these tower over them! The girls are nice and we have had a few fights but not too many however my 4 girls are hiding in the coop and the others havent stopped eating. They must have been starved bless them. Hopefully once they have calmed down I will get a pic of them together to show the difference.

Wouldn't have thought leghorn x, all the ones I have seen have had much more comb.
Tbh they look very much like like my sussex x brahma hen I used to have. She was huge too.....
nice though whatever they are.Anyone who says nothing is impossible has never tried slamming a revolving door

They have calmed right down today. The lack of a cockeral seems to have helped them calm. They all huddled up in bed last night. They arent used to human contact at all and jump alot when you make noises. They are dominating the coop as my 4 original girlies are wimps!! These 3 are so much bigger and brassier though!http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jamiesjourney

I'm not sure that they look much like a sussex - my sussex are also very large birds but are much fuller/rounder in the body, although they will probably fill out as they get older and their necks appear very long. Anyway, you will enjoy them whatever they are!

yep, they are lovely. I have started to handle them straight away but not pushing too hard. I tried to hand feed them bits like I do with the others but they didnt know what to do! They do have long necks though.http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jamiesjourney

I am pretty sure a pea comb. I have just popped out and double checked and admittedly I double checked on google. They have changed alot in the last three days and the combs have turned bright pink and grown abit whereas they were pale and flat. They are still dominating but calming down abit.http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jamiesjourney
