We are visiting my parents this week, so I can extend my hunt for a rouen drake and a chocolate, white or lavender muscovy drake. Can anyone help?

Are you bringing your non laying Pekes?? I can ask Rosemary if she would like them - they'd have fab views of Windermere from hilltop!

i asked my daughter and she boo hooed. So looks like they will stay here forever! I am bringing 4 hybrids for my mum as a present. a warren, bluebelle, skyline and speckledy. She makes lots of cakes. Her other 2 died of old age recently.
I have decided I will consider black and white muscovy drakes too(more available) and buy in some choc muscovy eggs - then keep a choc drake for next season. hensrus has looked around and found a black and white drake that might do. cumbrian poultry tend to be the most healthy, vigorous birds one can buy in my experience.

Hi Petal. Sounds like you are sorted then. Have fun in God's own county - the weather for the last fortnight has been brilliant blue skies and sun, sun, sun. Absolutely fabulous. If you want to drop by and see my Russian orloff chicks let me know, I'm just off J.34 (M6), but I'm only a backyard keeper with two loopy dogs. I don't have a set-up like yours!

i have found a muscovy drake, white and lavender near london, ftgh- he is a beauty and hand reared- has never seen another duck before, bless him. the rouen is being collected from near preston on our way back from lakes- an exhibition rouen. amazing what you can find when you really search.

It was amazing driving home in the snow last night. I get all bemused watching the 'star screen saver' effect. Much warmer tonight though.
Jess..backyard keeper or big breeder we is awwlll chookaholics, it's the enthusiasm and effort that that counts, not the numbers.
Glad you found your drakes Petal. I so fell in love with with a lavender musco. girl at the last borderway sale, but as we have just moved

                  YIPPEE

I now have to find somewhere here to keep my girls and daren't give in to temptation yet.
But watch this space (said in a dark suggestive tone )

Jess, I'll wait , working easter anyway
                        Two lots, wowser.

Petal, do hand reared ducks and geese settle in with flocks? Or do you have to teach them to be normal. If you see what I mean.

Ducks do not experience the social problems that chickens seem to. They have a bit of a aquack and a run a round, then a nice splash and a sleep. Like toddlers.
