I'm so sad for them, and for you. I couldn't kill my pets, my boys

Or perhaps they do work, and the crowing is stopping them sleeping. I agree with you about barking dogs, that's horrendous. Any noise is, if it's incessant and disturbs your peace & quiet. We have a boy next door who spends AN HOUR vacuuming out his car on a Sunday with the highest-pitched hoover you've ever heard. I could lynch him, I really could.

But, to you a cockerel crowing is a nice noise. To someone else, it's torture. I like music, but I certainly don't like having it played to me at 1am and 5am, as has been happening lately, from the teenage girl next door

FWIW I think you did the right thing doing it yourself. Must have been tough though.

By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,

Beautiful birds. It sounds trite but I mean it: they had a good life with you

You must have felt dreadful Snadger. I am so sorry it came to this and hope that a little less crowing will mean that you can keep hold of the others.

It's not a nice noise to me as I indicated in my thread but as I stated before people are just plain intolerant of anything or anyone these days.
