Hi all, im about to get some new girls after a period of about eighteen months. Thing is, i still have a bag of feed left over from before. It has been kept in a screw lidded bin but out of the bag.do you think i can use it? Its layers pellets in case that makes any difference!

If it doesn't seem mouldy, it would probably be OK, but NOT as main feed. For a top-up, or to make the new bag go further, you should get away with it, but there are nutrients added to pelelts that probably won't survive long storage, however good it looks.
If it has 'clumped' at all I'd get rid of it.

Most layers pellets have a three month lifespan, at least in terms of vitamin content. You may find they last a bit longer if stored in cool dry conditions but I would be inclined not to use them. The test will be your nose and the hens. If the hens don't like them, and they smell musty or "off" to you then definitely throw them away.

I'd chuck 'em. They might be mouldy, and that wouldn't do your hens any good at all.
