Thought I might start a thread where we can show our chickens (and ducks and turkeys etc!!)off and compare set ups. I am ever so nosey to see how other people lay out their pens and what types of chickens we are fanatical about (or is that just me...!!!)
starting with:the lf buff orpingtons, George, Mildred, June and April.

I haven't got any chickens, but do have some lovely ducks.



Pretty simple set-up - they mainly roam where they want and ducks are not very fussy about these things.



The nine ducks I hatched in two batches.



The one remaining drake, Freddy, who enjoys running after me and then acting nonchalant when I turn around.

Luckiest ducks in the world!!!! love the stonewalled veg plot too- wow!! I have added ducks, turkeys etc!! to thread.

That is a lovely set up Big Jim, your ducks are very lucky. And I love that dry stone wall, fabulous!

Thanks for the comments, I'll tell them how lucky they are when they're next complaining about the weather.

As you see from the pile at the back, I'm not short of stone. In fact, all the stone for the wall came from digging over the veg beds, and I've still got loads to build something else with. It's a single stone thick to allow some air through and was really easy to build.

I remember that brown water, having baths at Granda's house in Invershin, and washing your hair, which then turned into frizz. We renamed the Shin Falls as the Coke Falls!

Yes Jules apple- yet as a lakeland lass I remember my glossy hair-due to the brown water- unfiltered- plus little shrimps and wormy things..my children did enjoy these when we visited nanna and grandpa recently.... Not the stuff you would drink- it gave you a runny bottom......i did warn them...

This is Lavender, one of my young muscovies, and Bruxa, my little black hen. The muscovies are very naughty and will jump up and down trying to grab nice tasty leaves from my baby fruit trees.



In the corner you can see one of Bruxa's sons peeping out from the fattening pen. It's amazing how many surplus males you get when you hatch out a load of eggs!
