How many eggs can a maran cover please?

How many eggs should I put under my maran. She is sitting beautifully

Presumably LF? If she is a first timer I would give her 9 LF eggs, you could push it to 11 or 12 if she is more experienced.

Some people say it is better to put an odd number under, however I have experimented with both and can't say that it makes a difference. In fact my banties can usually only cover 4 LF eggs and they almost always all hatch.

That great RH. Yes she is LF and I had thought 10 eggs. Will go for 9 and see.

As far as I know this is the first time she has hatched eggs as she is one of the rescue birds I got 2 years ago. She is generally welded to the nest for most of the summer so I'm pretty confident she will be a good mum.
