Due to some unfortunate circumstances the inlaws are having to go away for about a week so we are going to be duckling sitting for about a week (4 of them about 6 weeks old, aylesburies I think). Is there anything I should know specifically for ducklings. I have a seperate coop and run well away from our chickens on grass, they are bringing food etc. Im hoping the OH doesnt decide from this we are gtting ducks. No matter how cute they are! Will they be needing water to paddle in? Anything I should know or be aware of?

At 6 weeks they would enjoy a paddle, but the vital thing is water deep enough to 'wash' their heads by dipping into the water. They WILL make the water dirty in short order, it will need changing at least daily, quite likely twice a day. They will also make everything in their pen very messy!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Good gosh they poo alot!!!!!! I knew they were messy but considering they are so tiny you wouldnt expect that much to come out of them! Ended up having to sit 2 goslings aswell. They are very cute but they have certainly put me off having ducks!http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jamiesjourney
