  • Foamy poo - worms? (pic included)

One of my newbies is doing foamy poos. Is this a sign of worms? I've started to worm them regardless this week (gave them a couple of weeks to settle in, and to get used to eating with the others around).

Since starting to worm the foaminess of the droppings has become less "foamy" but thought I'd post quickly about it anyway.

BTW, would the bedding be safe to compost if it is worms?

Looks like normal caecal poo to me, nothing to worry about. About one in ten poos are caecal and are partially fermented which is what gives them the foamy appearance.

It's always a good idea to worm new stock anyway when it comes in anyway, regardless of whether the seller says they have already been wormed. I always do it just to be on the safe side. And yes the bedding will be fine to compost as normal. Exposure to sun will kill worm eggs by the way so if you are concerned in any way leave the soiled bedding on top of the compost heap for a few days, although the sun may not put in an appearance. Flaming June it certainly isn't, more like flaming awful June!

Sorry RH, forgot to say I've noticed it's most (that I've seen - no idea what happens whenI'm not there) of her poos. She's fine in every other aspect. No visible signs of worms around vent, eating just as much (not any more) as the others, drinking etc.

      Thanks

looks like caecal to me too, worming with flubenvet will put your mind at rest. Also, if still worried after that time, you could get a worm count done by vet. they may ask you to increase flubenvet dose.
