I have just heard very loud, out-of-character "shouty" noises from one of my girlies. They are 15 weeks and 11 weeks old. I wondered whether the older one is an early developer and was getting ready to lay an egg, but when I went out to investigate there was this poo (picture below) in the end of the pen where they had both been (I don't know which one it belongs to). Is it blood? Or is it anything to do with the older one getting ready to lay? Her comb has recently gone very red. Can anyone set my mind at rest? They both seem fine, very bright and alert. I've only had them for 5 weeks and am panicking in case either of them is ill.

It's a bit of shed intestine, perfectly normal and commonly seen in growers as they are, well, growing. As the gut matures and grows bits slough off and are passed out with the waste. Colour can vary from pink to orangey red.
If you see blood, indicative of coccidiosis, it will look much more obviously like blood and the chickens will be hunched, inactive and poorly looking with ruffled feathers, usually standing around not eating etc.
I imagine the shouting was not connected and was just them having a squabble over something.
