  • Take #2.

Just picked up 5 more hybrids.. a warren, white star (leghorn hybrid), bluebell (absolutely massive... almost as large as my old magpie was and is only 16 weeks) - best not be a boy!, black marans, another cotswold legbar.

My solo bird now seems to have perked up and I know it's very early days, but she went straight over to the newbies to have a look. She laid a soft egg yesterday (as well as a normal one), turned around and ate it Hope she's not going to start eating them.

I'm hoping as they were all in the same box on the way home, and there's another bird that looks like my original cotswold legbar that she'll integrate reasonably quick, but we'll see.

Pics to follow later on when they've settled down a bit.

Not very good pics, but didn't want to bother them much today:

They have been duly named: baca-oo & beak.

(yep, all of them). The old one is showing her authority now, which is nice to see as she was picked on previously, but so far, so good - the introductions have gone well.

Let them out yesterday whilst I was in the garden - timid but they did enjoy it. The bluebell (who now is to be known as tinkerbell) has accepted me picking her up and stroking her, the others are still nervous

It is funny though, seeing my old hen who's left being the top hen now. Funny, really as she was so picked on before. At least with her blunt beak she can't do the damage that was done to her!

Next in line is the little white star, who is a small hen but so, so fast. I can see the order clearly, with the poor warren who's the youngest going on her comb size always being hungry with her crop hardly ever full! Still this time around, I'm letting them get on with it - I'm not interfering She's alive and well, so I'm happy
