Hello again, back for more advice from my helpful hen-friends please. One of my 3-wk old bantam chicks has started gaping/gasping and coughing. I have tried to look down her throat in case of any foreign body but nothing visible, I read that gapeworm is quite rare so could aspergillus be a possibility? The chick crumb is fresh and the run has woodchips rather than bark. Any thoughts please? thanks, Lynda

aspergilliosis does fit, I so can't spell it, pops into mind- are the wood chips sterile?
Its probably a gonner, if it was me it would be culled. Focus on healthy stock and cull the weak is what one does if breeding. I have had to learn this the hard way so sorry if I am being blunt.Last edited by petal; 31-08-2012, 08:45 AM.
