Tylan-powder not granules

Just purchased some tylans from our local Poultry breeder, its a fine white powder not the normal yellow granules.

Is it just a different type of antibiotic from a different manufacturer, shes gone on holiday now so i cant ask her what it is.

it came with no label on it, theys why i was asking.

I've only ever known it come as yellow powder. If you need Tylan you really should get it prescribed by a vet, and then at least you know it will be the real deal.

i have found that most breeders keep stock of some sort of medication which i find quite handy in a emergency, but like you say your never to sure what it is!

I have spoken to her since and she tells me that its a antibiotic but not Tylans.

any idea what wrong with my sablepoot, hunched up not eating to much(except sweetcorn) and her feet are swollen and very hot! (and moulting)

Well the hunched up and not eating much could be that she's off colour because of moulting, particularly if she's moulting heavily. However this will remedy itself in a few days, they don't feel bad for long. The feet are another issue however and you would need a vet diagnosis. We had a cock with similar symptoms which we treated extensively with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics but with no improvement and he was culled in the end.
