  • Strange behaviour!

Sorry if this has been brought up before, I couldn't find it on searching ,but I have a hen going through a serious moult and she is acting very oddly. She sort of ducks her head down, crouches and takes a few steps backwards, then walks forward a few steps sometimes doing the whole movement again.
She's eating/normally. Not laying but then she is moulting. I've Googled it and the suggestions seem to relate back to being effected by the moulting and to feed more protein and she'll stop doing it and get through it.
    Anyone else seen this?

How odd... one of my birds does something similar, but only when she's been attacked by one of the other birds - it's more of a submissive thing, lowering her head and reversing away quickly. Does anything seem to trigger it in your bird, or does she just do it all the time?

Random behaviour, it's not submissive . She does when the others aren't around. It's very odd.

my hen when in the moult does the same behaviour as you have described i have wondered if it is the lack of feathers puts her out of balance! maybe? she definitely feels smaller and submissive i think also.
