  • Say Hello to Sage

This is my Warren, I've had her since Saturday. The most gorgeous chicken you could ever hope to meet.

They really are tame, aren't they? I saw a tiny warren when I got my last lot - I felt sorry for her so took her, he only charged me a pound for her as she was so small... she was picked on by the other lot in her pen - as she was the only Warran amongst Marans I think.

I heard / read people say that they are great "pets" as they're so tame and friendly, but I really didn't expect them to be THAT tame.

Mine lays darker eggs than my Marans hybrid - which is strange, and they're large eggs too. Hasn't missed a day yet - she's lovely

Mind you, that said being tame is nice - but being under my feet CONSTANTLY is a right pain in the bum!

    She looks very friendly too!

She is gorgeous and the friendliest out of the three hens I have. I've also got a Rhode Rock and a White Star which both seem more timid. They are all about 16 weeks old so a while to wait yet until they start to lay but I have high hopes. The first night only the White Star went in the coop to roost the others stayed underneath, I had to put them in myself but they've got the hang of it now lol

The white star will lay well too - I have one. She is very skittish and doesn't care to be handled at all, but her eggs are enormous They are quite flighty too. Nice hens though, I'd have a couple more definitely.
