Just wondering what I can do to prepare my chickens for the snow which is forecast tomorrow. Their run is on concrete, lined with a thick layer of woodchips. One end of it (their 'conservatory'!)
is covered with plastic (roof, sides and end) and their dustbath is in that bit, but the rest of it is open mesh. Should I cover the whole run with plastic while it is snowing? (It's only chest-height; not a walk-in one). Or will they be ok walking about in snow? Should I give them something warm to eat and if so what - they usually just have their pellets, some greens, corn and mealworms. Any tips from stopping their water from freezing? I am out at work most of the day so can't keep checking and defrosting it. Will be grateful for any advice
Hope you all stay warm and cosy.
