  • Bare Neck Bantams

My Bantams alas have started to get old and I lost the silkie cockeral and and two of the light sussex bantams last year.

I am looking at replacing them and saw that a chap is selling silkie bare neck x on ebay. Funny looking things but I like the look of them.

Does anyone have any experience of these?

These are Showgirls I think - Silkies crossed with Transylvanian naked neck bantams. The latter are supposed to be good layers though they look a bit strange!

Are you sure they're not hardy Petal, Transylvania is quite cold! Ten foot of snow in the winter.....I saw some of the TNN when i was in Transylvania last year - they DO look weird because they've also got really long necks too....

I sold some of these a couple of weeks ago. They were very friendly and seemed to cope really well in all the rain. I raised them from chicks and by seven months they still weren't laying. One draw back I found was that they seemed to be insatiable and ate like I don't know what. Any further questions I'd be happy to try and answer them. Oh, FYI, they are bigger than a silkie and all shared the five toes... Not all naked necks...

pure naked necks are tough -nice temperaments, good egg layers etc - but wierd! its the silkie cross ones I thought were a pain. like silkies really, which I don't keep anymore as I found them to be too stupid for words.

                Thanks All.

I must just go for the pure breed. Silkies can be a pain
