  • Chickens and broad beans?

I've had a broad bean casualty today at the allotment - one plant has snapped in the wind. It has lots of lovely leaves and flowers and some small developing pods.

Would it be ok to give to the chickens to eat?

Mine ate my broadies when the netting blew off.

Mind you, mine also eat tomatoes and potato foliage.....(when they get near them)

They like my lime leaves that fall off the tree. I gave mine the broad bean tips along with some chard.

Aren't you supposed to give them tomatoes?? Mine love them... And I'm sure I've seen photos in mags and books of people treating their birds with tomatoes...

I meant the foliage- which is supposed to be toxic? If they manage to get in the GH, they give a good go at eating the whole plant. But yes, tomato fruit - mine love too. They'll eat ANYTHING. I mean, anything. Mice, frogs, whatever.

Yes they love frogs - really quite disgusting.
