Leg Rings

I purchased six POL chickens in Mid December. Some of them have coloured (flat type) rings on their legs.

Should I remove them?

If yes how do I do so without hurting my lovely chuckaloos.

If you don't need them for identification purposes, you can just snip them off with scissors.

Thanks for that Glutton 4 but they seem a little tight and I'm not sure I could get one of the blades from a pair of scissors between the chickens leg and the ring.

They are not needed and I would rather get them off if I can. A bit late now, it will soon be dark. I'll have a go tomorrow.

Smaller scissors, Snuffer! Nail scissors, or one of those toenail cutter things, maybe?

Obviously chickens don't need and aren't legally required to wear any kind of identification so if you don't need the rings, take them off.

To be honest, the only reason we do use them is because 6 of them are Light Sussex that look almost identical.
