Old seaside shells

I've just been looking for the egg-collecting basket we used when we last had a decent number of hens, and found it was filled with old shells. Must be things the children brought home from the beach two or three years ago. There's a mix of oyster shells, spiny shells, big and small shells. Is there any reason why I shouldn't put a couple into the hen house as playthings?
