I suppose it all depends on your principles............is a budgie cage big enough for a budgie?

Mine is the original model with a length of 6' rather than 8', my coup stands inside a "predator proof" run approx 10' x 26', which in absolute honesty is not really as big as I would like for my 3 chooks, but it's as much space as I can practically provide them.

How many hens do you want to keep vegboi?
When I started I thought I'd have 12 but bought a henhouse large enough for 24!! The breeder suggested I start with 6 and have more later if I needed them. I never did need more and had more eggs than I knew what to do with!! I have 3 now
Does anyone else on your allotments keep chickens?

If you have the option, I'd suggest you do return it and get a larger one...the reviews all seem to suggest it's on the small side.

Do make sure it's got good strong mesh and solid locks that are more likely to ward off a fox attack.

Hopefully someone else on the site will catch they 'chook keeping bug' once they see yours!

On our first site a couple of guys alternated with breakfast duties which made life a bit easier for them!( especially in winter! )

Good luck with your chooks....it's lovely to see your enthusiasm...and yup...they are sooooo addictive!
Bet you can't wait to get your first warm , freshly laid egg!

Your shed is the perfect size for a chicken coop for eight hens!

Just Knock a pop hole in side and bung a 10' X 8' run on it!

I have a similar sized coop and with 4 bantams. I think any more than that would be overcrowded, but I think you should find 4 would give you more than enough eggs
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

Get hold of some 2"x2" timber, a roll of mesh & knock up a portable extension to the original coop......failing that, buy another one & fasten them back to back so you have a coop at each end of the run.
